I must say, the first few days are by far the hardest. If you can make it to about day 5 or 6, it get's easier. not easy....but easier. My body is starting to detox itself (which is a great side benefit!) and my headaches have gone away.
My husband had a basketball game tonight so I took this extra time to read a book that was recently recommended to me, Crazy Love by Francis Chan. I'm loving this book! I can't say this is all new info, but it's so refreshing to hear right now. So, this is what God taught me today about being obsessed with him (taken from Francis Chan's book):
*People who are obsessed with Jesus give freely and openly. They love those that hate them and who can never love them back.
*People who are obsessed with Jesus aren't consumed with their personal comfort. They care more about God's Kingdom coming to this earth than anything else.
*People who are obsessed with Jesus live lives that somehow connect them to the poor. They believe Jesus talked about money and the poor so often because it was important. (Matt 16:24-26)
*Obsessed people are more concerned about with obeying God than doing what is expected of them or sticking to the status quo. They do things that don't always make sense to the world. (Luke 14:25-35, Matt 7:13-23)
*People obsessed with Jesus know that the sin of pride is always a battle. (Matt 5:16)
*People obsessed with God are known as givers, not takers (James 2:14-26)
*A person obsessed with God is characterized by committed, passionate love for God, above and before every other thing, and every other being.
*People obsessed with God do not attempt to mask the ugliness of their sins. They are raw with God.
*Obsessed people have an intimate relationship with God. They are nourished by His Word throughout the day, because they know that an hour on Sunday is not enough.
To all those fasting, remember, God is your strength and the joy of the Lord is your reward!
